Silicone build up on hair is very common if you have been using supermarket products on your hair. When colouring your hair, it is important to have no silicone build up present. We recommend cleansing your hair of any build up prior to having your hair coloured, especially if you are having it lightened. There are three options for you to rid your hair of silicone.
The first option is to have a deep cleansing treatment in-salon, which you can book online or call to book.
The second option is to purchase NAK 'Ultimate Cleanse' in salon and lather this heavily on the hair and leave on under a plastic cap or cling film for 20 minutes, under some form of heat if possible (sun or hairdryer). Then shampoo and condition as normal.
The third option is to do a bi-carb wash on your hair:
1/2 cup bi-carb soda
1/4 cup salon quality shampoo
splash of water to combine into a workable consistency.
Apply mixture all over the hair then cover with a plastic cap or cling film. Leave for 20min under some form of heat (sun or hairdryer) then shampoo and condition as normal.
You may find that your hair isn't feeling as silky as it was before, this is because the layer of silicone is now gone. Salon quality deep moisturising treatments can be used after these deep cleansing procedures.
